Yoga Nidra and Meditation

Yoga Nidra & Meditation are both powerful practices for relaxation and healing where the mind is sent into a theta brainwave state.

This is the same brainwave state as dreaming sleep and takes the individual a little deeper than alpha brainwave state which is relaxed conscious awareness noticed when doing pleasurable activities.

Yoga Nidra is also known as yogic sleep, although the goal is to remain awake while allowing the body to fully relax into a feeling of deep sleep. It is a method of meditation that allows the person to lie flat on the back in the pose of Savasana (also known as Corpse Pose). In this relaxed position, the guide leads you through five layers of the self, called Pancha Maya Kosha. This practice is a perfect way to add meditation to your daily life, especially if seated meditation has been a challenge.

All forms of meditation including yoga nidra offer a way to reconnect with the wholeness of self, reduce stress, improve focus and concentration, and train the ‘monkey mind’.
